Adding a parent

There are now 2 ways that you can link a parent to a child in Capture. The first way is for you as the setting to create a parent against a child as described in Option 1 – Creating a Parent. The second way to connect a parent is to create a link code for a child and share the link code with a parent. The parent can then register themselves and use the link code to link to your setting. This is described in Option 2 – Generating a link code.

Option 1 – Creating a Parent

We have changed the process for adding and managing parents in Capture. The parent button has now been removed and so the parents can be accessed through the Children Icon.

First, Login with the account that has the administration privileges.

You will see the following screen.

Click on the Children icon.

Now you will see the children list.

You can enter the name for a child in the search box or find them in the list below. To add a parent click on the Edit option alongside their name.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page with the child’s details on and you will see a section on parents.

To add a new parent click on the Add button.

This will give you the option to add the email address of the parent.

If the parent is already linked to another sibling in your setting you will get the following message:

If you select YES it will then send an email to the parent with details on how to complete the link.

If the parent is a new parent it will ask you to complete the following details.

Once you have entered these details it will then send the parent details on how to register with Capture and start receiving information on their child’s progress at your setting.

Option 2 – Generating a link code

First, Login with the account that has the administration privileges.

You will see the following screen.

Click on the Children icon.

Now you will see the children list.

You can enter the name for a child in the search box or find them in the list below. To add a parent click on the edit option alongside their name.

Next scroll down to where on the bottom right there is a button called ‘Generate Code’ and then click on this.

You will now see a code has been generated for that child. Share that code with a parent and they can use it to link to your setting and start receiving updates.
